I’m so excited to be writing this post about our recent stay at the Four Seasons in Whistler. I’m not 100% certain, but I’m pretty sure this is my favorite hotel I’ve ever stayed at. It was beautiful, the staff were so attentive, and – my favorite part – the bed was the best bed I’ve ever slept in. Let’s break it down.
Check-In
We pulled up to the beautiful Four Seasons and were pretty much instantly wowed by the gorgeous entrance. We valeted the car and loaded everything up on to a luggage cart, which the valet team took care of. Luckily there wasn’t a line at the front desk so we were able to start checking in right away. The man who assisted us was so friendly and helpful; he pulled out a map and explained the geography of downtown Whistler, the shuttle system, and where the important landmarks are. We had both been to Whistler before, but not in a while, so this was a good refresher on how to get around.
More than anything, there is just a special vibe that I really love about the really high level of service that usually accompanies luxury accommodations. I always kind of feel like the staff knows that we probably shouldn’t be spending so much money on a hotel and that the experience is really special to us. I feel like a celebrity and it’s one of my favorite parts about staying at hotels like The Four Seasons. That’s probably really silly, and this might just be me, but I definitely felt like I was in a movie during the entire check-in process.
The Room
I tend to like a more modern aesthetic, but when you’re in Whistler, you have to embrace the log cabin of it all! The room is very brown, but it’s all part of the theming and makes you feel like you’re wrapped up in a blanket. And also… best bed ever! The comforter and linens were top-notch and among the nicest I’ve ever slept in. If felt like you were wrapped up in a super warm cloud.
Bathroom
I’m a sucker for a good bathroom, and this definitely drew me in when selecting our hotel. I didn’t get a chance to use the tub, but it seemed of high quality. I liked the drawers under the sinks; it was nice to be able to store all my stuff while still trying to keep the bathroom looking so nice.
The best part was the shower. The water pressure was great and it practically felt like a spa treatment in there!
Fireplace
I was not expecting to have a fireplace in our room, and even if I had been, I wouldn’t have thought much of it. It’s not a feature I tend to care about. That said, I’ve been converted! I loved having this easy-on electric fireplace in our room! When we got room service we huddled around it and it added to the cozy vibe of our room.
Patio
The only time I spent on the patio is when I took this picture. But it’s a decent view for a courtyard view!
The Food
We ordered room service for breakfast each morning; I’m honestly not a huge breakfast person, but I found the morning spread to be good enough, and Garrett liked the eggs. For the price, this was not worth it, but there is something to be said about the cost of ease!
More importantly, the hotel restaurant – Sidecut Modern Steak + Bar – was great. The cocktails were a standout and the tasting menu was a fun way to experience the menu. Check out my full review of our experience at Sidecut here.
The Spa
After some morning hiking, I decided I needed some Spa time and went ahead and scheduled myself for a last minute luxury service: the Four Seasons Whistler Signature Treatment. The official description:
This luxurious journey begins with an exfoliating Canadian maple syrup and brown sugar scrub. Warm clay and algae is then applied as a nourishing and nurturing body wrap. While wrapped your hair and scalp are treated to a Moroccan Oil massage and conditioning treatment. This journey is completed with a deep moisturizing full body massage using an organic detoxifying body butter.
The treatment was obviously heavenly and so relaxing. I was able to customize the massage to focus on my IT bands and hips, and the hair treatment was great. I found the scrub and wrap to be a little rushed, but I can’t complain too much, because that left more time for the massage, which was one of the best non-sports massages I’ve received.
The facilities were nice; they provided a robe and shoes for you to change into in the locker rooms before heading to the relaxation room to wait. The showers in the locker room had private areas to change and large towels. I definitely wish my gym showers were this nice!
Overall
If you’re looking for somewhere to stay in Whistler, there are cheaper places than the Four Seasons. However, you wouldn’t be reading this if you were looking for a cheap place to stay, right? Considering that we were only going for two nights, I decided it was worth the splurge, and I’m glad we did it. The luxury accommodations and feel of the resort made the whole weekend special. I highly recommend it, and hope to return someday!
